This article lists the singles discography of Michael Jackson, with a partial list of singles released physically and other singles (non-charting reissues are not included). Included are peak chart positions for the United States, Australia, Austria4, Canada, France5, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Spain, Sweden4, Switzerland and United Kingdom; also, certifications by RIAA, ARIA, Music Canada, IFPI Denmark, SNEP, BVMI, IFPI Norway, Recorded Music NZ, PROMUSICAE, IFPI Switzerland, and BPI. Note that in some countries such as the United Kingdom and Canada, the value of the awards has changed over time with the certifications criteria depending on year of release of the single. In the United States and Australia, the criteria doesn't depend by year of release of the single, but on the year an award is given. The current criteria are active from 1989 and 1997, respectively. NOTES: * 1 Not released for sale in the United States; released only to radio in the United States. * 2 Promo-only release. * 3 Digital release, or song not released as single that charted due to digital download. * 4 Jackson was not credited on the charts for his vocal contributions (except to "Eaten Alive" by Diana Ross that in some countries was accredited also to Jackson). * 5 Prior September 1993, the charts in Sweden were bi-weekly, as well as the charts in Austria during the '80s (monthly in the '70s). * 6 Prior November 1984, there wasn't a reliable weekly chart for the singles in France.
